Nutritionist I

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

Seeking applicants for a Nutritionist I position in the WIC program and the Health Department. Position determines medical/nutritional risk factors for people applying for WIC, develops individualized care plans for nutrition counseling and prescribes individualized food packages.   Work involves extensive interaction with the public, use of multiple computer programs, data entry, and reviewing electronic record for accuracy. Position communicates regularly with the public via phone and in person and must be able to handle sensitive information with courtesy and tack. Top candidates for this position are organized; articulate; knowledgeable of and able to use correct grammar, vocabulary, and spelling; are able to follow written policies and guidelines, and present themselves professionally. Must be able to problem solve and work independently following training. The position may perform work at the Statesville or Mooresville Health Department locations. Availability during emergencies and exercise is required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  Graduation from a Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education-approved Didactic Program in Dietetics; or Dietetics; or Dietetic Technician, Registered with the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Educations with a Bachelor’s degree in any subject area from an accredited four-year college or university; or a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Dietetics, Public Health Nutrition or Community Nutrition from an accredited four-year college or university.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:  Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.

WORK SCHEDULE:  Monday – Friday / 8:00am – 5:00pm.

HIRING RANGE:  $41,501.24 - $53,121.59 (Grade 325 C)
